Meet Your Mount
Today you meet your mount and receive brief riding instructions for your horse specifically. You will then venture out on a mountain trail ride where you will spend the day getting to know your horse and feeling comfortable with the terrain you're riding in.

You will pack a lunch and eat out along the trail and arrive back to the ranch around 4:00pm-just in time to use the world famous outdoor shower and prepare for dinner.

Begin the Horse Drive
Pack your bags! Today we will head out on the World Famous Horse Drive. Pack enough gear and clothing for two full days of camping.

After horses are saddled you will load your horse into the horse trailer and drive about 40 minutes to where the herd is located. After being dropped off near the herd, you will begin to drive over 40 head of horses 22 miles from Middle Creek to Warm Springs campsite. When you arrive at Warm Springs you will find all of your gear and tent accommodations waiting there for you. Take a dip in the natural warm springs and end the magical day with campfire activities and star gazing.

Ride the drive: Day 2
Wake up at the beautiful campsite of Warm Springs and prepare to head out on your second day of driving horses.

Today you will gather and drive the herd of horses around 17 miles to Weber Creek campsite. Experience a completely different terrain as you gain elevation and ride through the pine trees. Once you arrive at camp, take a plunge into the ice cold Webber Creek and prepare for a yummy campfire cooked meal.

Ride the drive: Day 3
Wake up and enjoy a gorgeous campfire cooked breakfast and prepare for your final drive day back to the ranch.

Today you will venture from Webber Creek campsite and drive the herd approximately 20 miles towards the Silver Spur Ranch. Enjoy one of the most incredible wide open gallops across the mountain top with panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains in every direction. End your day riding into the ranch with the herd and prepare for a celebratory steak dinner.

Goodbye for Now
Wake up one last morning and take in the beautiful scenery of Silver Spur Ranch.

Enjoy one last breakfast before you pack your bags for homeward bound. Ranch transfer will leave around 9:00am to get you back into Idaho Falls in time for flights or other plans. We hate to see this week end. Heaven only knows when we'll see you again...

This was my 5th trip to Silver Spur Ranch in as many years and it was the best one yet! Several upgrades to the ranch made nights spent there even more comfortable. Wonderful horses and the best cowboys and staff that make the ride and accommodations hard to beat. I already miss my new friends made on the trip and my sweet Silver Spur Ranch family!

Silver Spur Ranch in Dubois Idaho was everything that I’d been led to expect and more. The setting is gorgeous, with endless blue skies, rolling foothills and a variety of terrain to ride over : Forests, streams, vast expanses of sagebrush , steep paths up, down and sideways. I was never bored ! At times the horizon seemed to stretch on forever and at others it was brought up closer framing the steep hills and cliffs of Montana and beyond. I never saw a vehicle ( but once) the whole time I was there that didn’t belong to our ranch. No wifi added to the calmness of the stay. It’s the Silver Spur family and support staff that truly make the whole experience one of a kind. Always good humoured, available, helpful and enthusiastic they couldn’t do enough for their guests of eleven riders. Up at dawn and probably the last to go to bed we were fed delicious meals and snacks, they saddled up our horses and released them to roam at night, setting up tents and campfires and singalongs and always with a relaxed family attitude and their children helping out . It was a truly complete experience with all the riders bonding and working together to herd the horses over long days in the saddles. One of my favourite take aways from the ranch is a drawing that their children painted and gave to me. It was truly a memorable and stirring experience that I hope to do again one day.

This was my 19th ride with Silver Spur Ranch… Need I say more… The horses, the tack, the food, the accommodations, and the people (Dax, Bodie, Porter, and all of the other team) are the best in the business. This is not a ride for the inexperienced rider or faint of heart… They let you ride… There are numerous gallops… You’re working to push these horses… I’ve been riding since I was eight years old… I have been on other horse drives, cattle drives and nothing compares… One year I was fortunate to come twice… I am so looking forward to next year… If you love horses, if you are an experience rider, if you’re not afraid to get your butt banged up a little bit… This is the horse riding experience you’ve been dreaming about. “Let ER BUCK”!
